Comprehensive coverage of "City of tomorrow and cultural heritage" actions
CORDIS, The European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, offers a new site dedicated to the key action for 'City of tomorrow and cultural heritage'. The information is hosted on the Energy, environment and sustainable development (EESD) web service. The action covers research with regard to urban sustainability and cultural identity improvements. The site offers a comprehensive picture of the key action earmarking 170 million euro and direct access to many innovative solutions developed through completed or on-going research projects e.g. waste treatment, strategies to avoid damage in European monuments, planning concepts and policy instruments, urban service assessments and more. All these products, services, tools and technologies are presented with descriptions and contact details to ease potential transferability. In addition, the site offers links to key official and reference documents as well as to a library including the proceedings of the European city visions workshop held in February 2001. A list of contacts is also provided. The site will prove useful for local stakeholders and innovation actors interested in taking up new approaches to urban governance, planning and management as well as exploitable research results in the fields of cultural heritage, built environment and urban transport.
