More projects on IST service, including the biggest ever funded project
CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service which publishes descriptions of all European funded projects recently added details of the biggest ever funded project. The project, named GN1, aims to create a pan-European interconnection between national research and education networks in Europe at gigabit speeds. The Commission allocated 80 million euro to the European consortium, led by a British organization. New project descriptions are added regularly on CORDIS. For example, around 100 new Information society technologies-related projects are published every month. Users can track good examples of on-going or completed research by visiting either the project database service or the project section in programme web services. A full description of the objectives and a work description can be found on the project database service along with the details of all 25 participants in the project. The regular consultation of the project database service enables potential applicants to search for previous research projects in specific fields and thus avoid duplication as well as offering a good overview of the European funded research trends in different domains.
