The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) has given prior notification of a call for tenders for a study on waste characterisation facilities. The contractor should perform a study to install a waste characterisation device in the hot cell laboratory. This facility should allow the carrying out of a detailed examination of any waste package produced, and to be sent for conditioning and storage. Radiation measurements (e.g. gamma and neutron) should allow the giving of the best possible information on the waste package composition. The study should define the design of the facility and the instrumentation required. It should give advice on the most efficient and cost effective solution. The approximate budget is 150,000 euro.
