Commission encourages associated State participation in FP5
The European Commission has announced a call for proposals to extend existing contracts under the specific programme for research, technological development and demonstration on 'competitive and sustainable growth' (1998 to 2002) to include partners from the 'newly associated States' (NAS). Those eligible to participate in indirect RTD actions under the specific programme are hereby invited to submit proposals for partnership extension. Support will only be considered for the extension of existing 'Competitive and Sustainable Growth' contracts to include partners from NAS. Proposals should be submitted by the co-ordinator acting on behalf of all the existing participants in the project, together with the new participant from the NAS. The indicative budget available for this call is 10 million euro. Proposals for partnership extension of currently running projects will only concern the integration of new participants from the NAS: Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. One or more new partners from NAS may be included in the extension. The remaining duration of the existing contract should be such that an extension to partners from NAS is worthwhile. It is recommended that the minimum remaining duration of an existing project be of at least eighteen months, running from 13 December 2001 until its end date.
