The European Commission has announced a call for proposals to extend existing contracts under the specific programme for research and training (Euratom) in the field of nuclear energy (1998 to 2002) to include partners from the newly associated States (NAS) associated with the Euratom programme. Those eligible to participate in indirect RT actions under the specific programme are invited to submit proposals for research and technological development (RT) projects, thematic networks and concerted actions. The call exclusively concerns the extension of contracts currently running or under negotiation by new participants from the NAS associated with the Euratom programme: Bulgaria, the Czech republic, Hungary, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. One or more new partners in the NAS may be included in the extension. The additional participants should clearly add value to the existing projects. The duration of the existing contract should be such that the inclusion of additional partner(s) from the NAS would be useful. It is recommended that the minimum remaining duration of the contract is of at least one year, running from 21 January 2002. Proposals can be submitted for the following activities of the specific programme for research and training in the field of nuclear energy, namely key action 2: nuclear fission, research and technological development of generic nature and support for research infrastructures. Proposals for a partnership extension should be submitted by the coordinator of an existing project (or one under negotiation), acting on behalf of all the participants in the project, including the new participant(s) from the NAS. The indicative budget: 0.9 million euro Deadline: 21 January 2002 at 17.00 (Brussels local time) Call identifier: NE-fission NASProposals must be received by the Commission before or on the deadline above by one of the following methods: - Post, courier or hand delivered to: NE-fission NAS The Research Proposal Office (ORBN 8) Square Frère Orban/Frère Orban Plein 8 B-1040 Brussels - Electronic submission, the details of which are given in the guide for proposers For further information, please contact: European Commission Nuclear Energy Information Desk MO 75 5/47 Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-295 4991 E-mail: jeanette-linda.coppens-poole@ec.europa.eu http://cordis.europa.eu/fp5-euratom/calls/calls.htm(opens in new window)
