Inventor launches worldwide innovation competition
Trevor Baylis, the British inventor of the wind up radio, is launching a worldwide innovation competition with a consulting package worth one million euro for the prize winner to development their winning invention. The competition, sponsored by Altran, will be launched officially on 8 November and has the title 'technological innovations for developing countries'. Entries are invited from designers and inventors in the 12 countries where Altran has a presence (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK). The winner will receive consulting worth one million euro from Altran consultants to help the project get off the ground. 'Helping developing countries is very important to me, and companies like Altran are pioneers with competitions such as this. Through experience, I know a very simple 'brainwave' can impact on so many people's lives that it's almost immeasurable,' said Mr Baylis.
