CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and development information service, is offering a service dedicated to the Research Council's Spanish Presidency. The new research and innovation information service is currently available in Spanish and will shortly be available in English. Developed jointly by CORDIS and the Spanish Ministry for science and technology led by Ms Ana Birulés, the service provides a window on research and innovation related activities carried out during the six months of the Presidency (January-June 2002). The web service highlights the priorities of the Presidency, including the approval of the next Framework Programme and the development of the international dimension of research. The service will provide dynamic and timely information on research developments, work and actions led by Spain as well as in depth coverage of Presidency news and events. In addition, the site introduces key institutions, public research organisations, infrastructures and funding opportunities in each autonomous community, along with relevant contacts and links. Detailed information on Spanish participation in European research programmes and other key figures are also available. This new service will be helpful for those following discussions on the next Framework Programme and the European research area (ERA). It will support the Spanish effort to better disseminate information to scientific and business communities in particular and society in general.
