Nearly half of all Europeans went online in January
A new study from research firm IDC has found that nearly half of all Europeans used the Internet in the first month of 2002. Germany, the Netherlands and southern European countries saw the highest growth in Internet users during 2001. One third of European Internet users bought online in the first half of last year, according to the study, and the number of people buying goods online grew by 45 per cent between July and September 2000 and the same period in 2001. Norway, Switzerland, Germany and the UK topped the list of European online shoppers, according to the study.
