IMPACT, the Community programme for the establishment of an internal information services market, has recently created an Information Market Forum (I'M Forum) database now accessible online via ECHO, the European Commission Host Organization. Developed by DG XIII/E with the collaboration of the IMPACT programme's National Awareness Partners throughout the Member States, I'M Forum is a listing of company and individual names providing a pool of expertise available online to those seeking information in various sectors of the information market. In addition, it enables individuals and organizations to identify other partners for potential partnerships or joint ventures. The companies listed are categorised as offering consultancy, services or both, in over 80 different fields including, for example, artificial intelligence, audiotex, CD-ROM, data-conversion, electronic mail, hypermedia, intelligent interface, network management, sound processing and videodisc. In addition to each organization's name, address, contact person, telephone and fax numbers, a free-text description of the consultancy or services offered is included. At present, about 600 companies or individuals are listed, and the database is being continuously updated. The information it contains is provided by the persons or organizations involved. I'M Forum provides two key services - It provides information which can be consulted online; - It offers the opportunity for users to have details on their own consultancy facilities and/or services added to the database. The new database is part of a larger IMPACT Information Service hosted on ECHO. This includes: An introduction to the IMPACT programme for those unfamiliar with its action lines and general orientation; the latest IMPACT news; a listing of useful contacts; the text of major IMPACT documents; and an electronic mailbox facility permitting users to enter messages or questions to be answered by the IMPACT Central Office.
