IST 2002 conference draws encouraging response
A call for proposals launched by the European Commission for ideas for the forthcoming IST (information society technologies) 2002 event in Copenhagen in November has received a positive response. Some 320 ideas for the conference and 160 proposals for exhibits were received by the May 31 deadline. These will now be evaluated. One of the new elements to this year's IST conference is the role it will play in helping to bring together potential partners in consortia which could participate in the Sixth Framework programme (FP6), particularly its IST priority, and the European research area (ERA). The event takes place at the same time as the launch of FP6.
