A Commission Decision on the definition of the measures eligible for Community financing in the programmes for the control of organisms harmful to plants or plant products in the French overseas departments(Decision 93/542/EEC) sets out rules concerning the Community's financial contribution toward programmes for the control of such organisms. The provisions of the Decision are based on those of Decision 93/552/EEC concerning the rules governing Community financial contributions with regard to the French overseas departments, the Azores and Madeira (described in RTD-News item RCN No 1848). The Community's financial contribution to the official programme in this field as presented by France for 1993 is approved. The programme is made up of four subprogrammes covering: Guadeloupe; Guiana; Reunion; Martinique. Actions for which aid is granted include, inter alia, phytosanitary observation and surveillance, development of control methods for harmful nematodes, fruit-fly surveys, and (in Reunion) the establishment and operation of a pesticide residue analysis laboratory.
