MEPs meet Russian aerospace experts to discuss EU-Russian relations
The European Parliament's sky and space intergroup will meet on 25 September in Strasbourg, France, to discuss relations between the EU and Russia. This will be the first time that MEPs from the intergroup have met with members of the Russian DUMA as well as from other Russian institutions to discuss aerospace topics. Discussions are likely to focus on the Sixth Framework programme, the collaboration agreement between the EU, the European space agency and Russia, Galileo and launchers. In addition to MEPs, representatives from Europe will include Director of the Commission's space and transport directorate Jack Metthey. Representing industry will be delegates from EADS, Finmeccanica, Snecma and Arianespace. The sky and space intergroup was set up by MEPs in July 2001. The two main objectives of the intergroup are to provide interested MEPs with complete and open information about aerospace topics while establishing a comprehensive transverse dialogue about aerospace topics between the various political groups represented in the parliament.
