The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced the name of its next Director General, who will succeed Antonio Rodotà on 30 June for a period of four years. The position will be taken up by Jean-Jacques Dordain, who has been with ESA since 1986. Since February 2001, Mr Dordain, from France, has been Director of launchers at ESA. 'I feel very honoured to have been appointed Director General of ESA and welcome this challenging opportunity.
