Global change and ecosystems
The European Commission has published a call for proposals for global change and ecosystems under the Sixth Framework Programme's 'Sustainable development, global change and ecosystems' priority thematic area. This is one of the areas covered by the 'Integrating and strengthening the European Research Area' specific programme. A number of instruments will be used to fund research in this field: integrated projects, networks of excellence, specific targeted research projects, coordination actions and specific support actions. Proposers are advised to consult the call text for details on which instruments are applicable to which subject areas. Areas covered by this call are: - Impact and mechanisms of greenhouse gas emissions and atmospheric pollutants on climate, ozone depletion and carbon sinks (topics 6.3.I.1 6.3.I.2 6.3.I.4 6.3.I.5 and 6.3.I.6 in the work programme); - Water cycle, including soil-related aspects (topics 6.3.II.1.1 6.3.II.1.2 6.3.II.2.1 6.3.II.2.2 6.3.II.3.1 and 6.3.II.3.3 in the work programme); - Biodiversity and ecosystems (topics 6.3.III.1.1 6.3.III.1.2 6.3.III.1.3 6.3.III.1.4 6.3.III.2.1 and 6.3.III.4.1 in the work programme); - Mechanisms of desertification and natural disasters (topics 6.3.IV.1.a 6.3.IV.2.a and 6.3.IV.2.b in the work programme); - Strategies for sustainable land management, including coastal zones, agricultural land and forests (topic 6.3.V.2.2 in the work programme); - Cross cutting issue: sustainable development concepts and tools (topics 6.3.VIII.1.a 6.3.VIII.2.a and 6.3.VIII.2.b in the work programme).
