The European Commission has published a call for tenders for specific targeted research projects and coordination actions for Mediterranean partner countries under the Sixth Framework Programme's 'Specific measures in support of international cooperation - Mediterranean partner countries' thematic priority. This is one of the areas covered by the 'Integrating and strengthening the European Research Area' specific programme. Specific targeted research projects and coordination actions will be funded under this call, which relates to 10.3.1 B in the work programme. The general objective of international cooperation activities carried out under the Framework Programme is to help open up the European Research Area to the rest of the world. These activities represent the particular contribution of the Framework Programme to this opening-up process, which will require a joint effort by the Community and the Member States. The approach of this call is to concentrate on a set of strategic areas of specific relevance to the region, which have been selected through an extensive Euro-Mediterranean dialogue. The thematic issues covered are: Environment - Comprehensive policy for integrated water planning; - Improving the water consumption by users and uses and plant breeding for efficient water and nutrient use; - Advanced water treatment, re-use and energy implications Protection and conservation of cultural heritage - Materials, artefacts, monuments and sites: new technologies and characterisation; - Simulation - re-creation - comparative preservation methodology Health The total indicative budget for this call is 25 million euro.To see the call text, please visit: http://fp6.cordis.lu/fp6/call_details.cfm?CALL_ID=39(opens in new window)
