Network of eLearning cities to be established
The eLearning Industry Group (eLIG) is to create a network of 'eLearning cities' across Europe. eLIG is currently looking for communities wishing to collaborate with industry in a new eLearning environment. Once the network has been established, users will be able to receive eLearning content anywhere, any time and on any device. 'If Europe is to become the most dynamic and knowledge-based economy in the world, we need to undertake innovative projects to promote the deployment of eLearning in Europe,' said deputy chairman of the eLIG group, Mikko Laine. 'We are committed to promoting the use of eLearning and to helping Europe become the world leader in this sector.' The eLIG group will also provide advice to the European Commission and national governments on areas such as information technology and telecommunications infrastructure, as well as open standards that facilitate the exchange of eLearning content, and the development of a sustainable market for eLearning content.
