Thematic service on 'new and emerging science and technology' opens up new frontiers on CORDIS
NEST (new and emerging science and technology) is an innovative feature of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), which aims at exploring promising research fields and accelerating the development of European capabilities. To support visionary and challenging projects, CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, is providing a dedicated service on all related opportunities and funded actions. The new service, part of the FP6 portal, offers central access to useful information and calls as well as direct links to assist submission of proposals. This service offers comprehensive information on the three action lines and support actions, covering ambitious discoveries, anticipated needs and multidisciplinary opportunities, which together have a budget of 215 million euro. In addition, users can quickly find timely information on news and events, identify local support and consult documentation on the flexible approach adopted. This dedicated web interface thus provides a clear window to the new frontiers of European research as well as an interactive tool for the scientific community to exchange information on unconventional fields of research.
