The Walloon government has launched a new 'international elite' programme, aimed at attracting international researchers to the scientific research base of the Walloon region. The initiative will provide ten grants to researchers from abroad wishing to carry out a research project in one of the region's universities or high-level institutes, under the patronage of a Walloon-based business. Projects will be selected according to the scientific expertise of the researcher, the level of technology and scientific study involved, and the positive impact that the research project could have upon the socio-economic development of the Walloon region. For the first call, partnering countries interested in participating in the programme will be asked to sign a cooperation agreement with the Walloon region.
