The fourth Annual Report of the Information Market Observatory (IMO) has been submitted by the European Commission to the Council, the European Parliament and the Economic and Social Committee and is now available upon request. The report has been prepared under the IMPACT programme, which is implemented by the Directorate-General for Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research (DG XIII). It reviews the most important trends during 1991-1992 in the following sectors: - "Classical" online ASCII database services; - Videotex services; - Publications on optical disk; - Fax-based and audiotex information services. Key findings are described and the main conclusions highlight the report's major theme of Europe's competitiveness in electronic information services in relation to the USA and Japan.
