The deadline to the Commission's call for tenders to undertake a study of the environmental impact of the Alqueva dam, Portugal, has been extended to 28 February 1994. The subject of the call (originally published in OJ No C 3 of 5.1.1994) is an integrated study to provide a summary of the environmental impacts of the Alqueva scheme as well as the measures proposed to offset the negative impacts, and the financial costs of these measures. The area to be studied is the region under the influence of the Alqueva dam (Alentejo and Algarve) and should cover: Alqueva; the lower storage dam; the dam on the Guadiana; the estuary; the desertification process.
