A booklet now available from the Technology Initiative for Disabled and Elderly People (TIDE) presents the updated synopses of the 21 projects funded under the Pilot Action (1991-1992) plus new synopses on ten extensions to existing projects and one horizontal study. TIDE is a precompetitive technology development initiative specifically aimed at stimulating the creation of a single market in rehabilitation technology in Europe. The TIDE Pilot Action was allocated a Community appropriation of ECU 8 million from the 1991 budget. A total of 21 projects were selected for funding, to be operational at the beginning of 1992 and to be completed within 18 months. In 1992, a further ECU 10 million was made available. This was dedicated to the completion of the existing Pilot Action projects and, in some cases, their extension (10 were selected for extension with a total funding of ECU 3.9 million), as well as the funding of a major horizontal study of the rehabilitation market. The "Pilot Action Synopsis" lists projects by number and project acronym and provides an index of the partners involved. A description of each project is included together with the aims and expected results, duration and the addresses of contact persons.
