The International Association for the Promotion of Cooperation with Scientists from the Independent States of the former Soviet Union (INTAS) will shortly publish an invitation for scientists and research teams to submit declarations of intent to take part in scientific research or networking projects, performed jointly by teams from the independent States of the former Soviet Union and the Member States of the European Union. Declarations of intent should include at least one partner from the independent States of the former Soviet Union and two partners from two different Member States of INTAS. Funding is intended to support scientists and research groups of the independent States of the former Soviet Union. The scientific areas which are covered by the initiative include all exact and natural sciences as well as the human and social sciences. A budget of approximately ECU 21 million will be considered for 1994 to support these initiatives. INTAS expects to support a few hundred joint research and network projects, with the allocation to each project depending on the their specific requirements. Each submission should identify a project coordinator responsible for all administrative and budgetary aspects as well as the submission of all documents to INTAS. Evaluation will be based on the declarations of intent which will be evaluated by the Council of Scientists of INTAS. The selection of proposals for funding will be performed by INTAS based on the results of the assessments and the available funds.
