Commission calls for ideas for IST 2004 conference and exhibition
The European Commission has launched an IST 2004 website, which contains news of the event, to take place in the Netherlands in November, and calls for ideas for both the conference programme and the exhibition. The theme for this year's information society technology (IST) event is 'Participate in your future. People and economy'. In its call for ideas on the conference, the Commission states: 'The conference programme should appeal to decision-makers form the public sector, private industry and the world of research, as well as to interested citizens, especially young people and students, sharing a common challenge: to improve the prosperity, security and quality of life for all Europeans through the development of a citizen-centred information society.' The IST 2004 exhibition will be open to demonstrations of IST research projects from across Europe.
