Austria is to receive a 65 million euro loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to modernise its university and research facilities. The money will be channelled into the overhauling of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien), as well as the construction of six new higher education and research facilities in Austria. The six new facilities are as follows: - Innsbruck ICT Technology Park; - the Centre for Molecular Biosciences at the Karl Franzens University of Graz; - the Frank Stronach Institute in Graz; - a large engines research centre; - the Austrian bio-energy research centre; - a virtual vehicle research centre. The funding will also back the Austrian National Innovation Plan that aims at improving cooperation between university research and industrial research.
