Roberto Vittori has become the only European astronaut to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) twice, having docked there in the early hours of 17 April. Dr Vittori joins Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev and NASA astronaut John L. Phillips, who together make up the ISS Expedition 11 crew. The Italian astronaut will spend eight days at the ISS, and will conduct extensive experiments in the fields of human physiology, biology, technology and education. The Eneide mission is being co-sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Defence and the region of Lazio, as well as the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Russian federal space agency Roscosmos. Dr Vittori will return to Earth on with the ISS Expedition 10 crew, who have been on the ISS for the last six months, on 25 April.
