The Commission has recently approved 29 new projects to receive financial support from the Cohesion Fund. The overall financial appropriation for these projects is in the region of ECU 135 million. Nine projects are Irish (three transport, six environmental) and the remaining 20 are Greek, concerning water supply and the purification of waste waters. The Cohesion Fund supports transport infrastructure and environmental actions to aid the effort towards economic and monetary convergence of the four beneficiary Member States (Spain, Greece, Portugal and Ireland). The total Fund resources available for 1994 are ECU 1,853 million.
