Call for tenders: benchmarking in a policy perspective
The Commission's Information Society DG has published a call for tenders for a study relating to benchmarking in a policy perspective within the i2010 initiative. Benchmarking will play a central role in monitoring progress towards the priorities set out under i2010. To this end, household and the enterprise surveys will continue to be carried out in i2010. Policy emphasis now focuses more on complex issues of impact and usage of technologies in the wider economy and benchmarking must become more sophisticated. It is necessary to build on existing work and continue to track some indicators consistently but monitoring of progress now requires indicators that are flexible and timely. The objective of this study is to carry out an in-depth analysis of the results of the annual Information Society surveys of households and enterprises relating them to a number of specific themes, to be selected by the Commission. The aim is to address areas beyond pure ICT connectivity such as social shaping of technology with regard to individuals and communities, ICT and social capital, etc. The contract will provide for 10 themes.
