Assessing carbon sequestration in European forests
The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) has issued a call for tenders on developing harmonised methods for assessing carbon sequestration in European forests. The proposal for a monitoring scheme on carbon sequestration in forests aims at: - improving harmonisation and comparability of the LUCF sector in the annual greenhouse gas inventory reports of Member States, as implemented under the mandate of the EU Monitoring Mechanism; - strengthening and harmonising the existing national systems in such a way that they meet the requirements of international monitoring and reporting of GHG emissions and sinks in the forestry sector. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General JRC Institute for Environment and Sustainability Management Support Unit Attn: Manuela Grossi TP 263 Via Fermi 1 I-21020 Ispra Fax +39 03 32 78 95 40 E-mail: jrc-ies-tender@cec.ru.int To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.publications.eu.int/udl?REQUEST=Seek-Deliver&LANGUAGE=en&DOCID=185709-2005(opens in new window)
