The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) has issued a call for tenders on developing harmonised methods for assessing carbon sequestration in European forests.

The proposal for a monitoring scheme on carbon sequestration in forests aims at:
- improving harmonisation and comparability of the LUCF sector in the annual greenhouse gas inventory reports of Member States, as implemented under the mandate of the EU Monitoring Mechanism;
- strengthening and harmonising the existing national systems in such a way that they meet the requirements of international monitoring and reporting of GHG emissions and sinks in the forestry sector.For further information, please contact:
