Call for tenders: engineering-related scientific and technical services relating to lift cars
The European Commission's Enterprise and Industry DG has published a call for tenders for engineering-related scientific and technical services relating to lift cars for aeroplanes. Directive 95/16/EC on lifts states the objective of preventing the risk of crushing when the lift car is in one of the extreme positions. It further states that this objective will be achieved by means of free space or refuges. Where this solution is impossible to apply, other appropriate means may be provided to avoid this risk, subject to prior approval by Member States. The aim of the present technical assessment is to examine whether the solutions available (other than free space or refuges) to avoid the crushing risk provide an equivalent level of safety. The assessment shall be based on the examination of available technical standards and of the technical solutions proposed by lift installers as well as the execution of appropriate tests on actual lift installations. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry Attn: Luis Montoya Tel +32-2 296 2592 Fax +32-2 296 6273 E-mail: Entr-mechan-electr-equipm@cec.eu.int To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.publications.eu.int/udl?REQUEST=Seek-Deliver&LANGUAGE=en&DOCID=193747-2005(opens in new window)
