The Netherlands Agency for Research Information (NBOI) has published a directory of online databases which contain information on research organizations, scientists, research programmes and projects. Entitled "Directory of research information systems", it provides details of 92 available research databases world-wide, including CORDIS. The publication is the result of a 1993 study conducted by NBOI to collect detailed information about online systems. Research information systems have been identified in all continents except South America. Most of the systems have been established to serve national needs. Systems which cover more than one country have either a common language (USA/Canada), a common regional interest (the European Union) or have been set up by an international organization. The 240-page directory outlines the coverage of each of the databases and provides contact details.
