Euroabstracts: June 1994
"Euroabstracts" is published each month by DG XIII of the European Commission. It provides abstracts of Community RTD publications in addition to a review of RTD results, policies and activities. A large section of the June issue is devoted to the subject of the BIOMED research programme. This programme contributes to the improved efficacy of medical and health R&D, to ensure that Member States have the best possible systems both for health care and for its delivery. Another focus of the June issue is intellectual property management. Legal recognition for the ownership of new ideas is essential to support advances in new technologies. Intellectual property can include copyright, patents, registered designs, trade marks and know-how. Two case-studies are provided in patents applications: BRITE/EURAM "Improved die casting technology" and BIOTECHNOLOGY "Entrapped enzymes enhancing drug treatments". The June edition includes some 30 pages of abstracts of recent Community publications on research, science and technology. These cover a wide range of subjects: chemistry, earth sciences, engineering and technology, energy, life sciences, materials, mathematics, computers and telecommunications, nuclear science and engineering, and physics.
