The European Commission has published a call for tenders to provide support services for the organization of a conference entitled "The impact of large-scale technology transfer projects on the innovation process" which will take place in Luxembourg on 21-23 February 1995. The conference is being organized as part of the SPRINT programme which aims to encourage trans-European infrastructure for innovation by promoting the dissemination of new technologies and by supporting specific projects which are of particular demonstration value for innovative technology transfer. The demonstration aspect of these specific projects is essential because, despite the single market, there are still many barriers which hinder the natural transfer of technology which is vital for innovation. Over the past four years specific projects have facilitated the effective adoption and transfer of new technologies by companies in sectors and regions where these technologies are not yet used. They have encouraged transnational cooperation and illustrated the necessary conditions for innovation while demonstrating the benefits of applying appropriate management techniques. The objective of the proposed conference is to improve the awareness of firms, organizations and national or Community programme managers concerning the best practice methods in the transfer of technology and innovation. The experiences and lessons learned are not only valuable for organizations and SMEs but also for public initiatives in the field of innovation. This is especially true in countries where technology diffusion mechanisms are not yet well established. The contractor, in close cooperation with the Commission services, would take complete responsibility for all logistical and other aspects of the conference organization. In this sense, the following services should be undertaken by the conference technical organizer: - Management on site; - Central postal address; - Finance and control of funds; - Catering; - Registration of participants; - Reimbursement of invited speakers; - Printing material; - Total responsibility of the organization and coordination of the conference, including technical follow-up and dismantling. The provision of itemized costs is optional. Written requests for the tender documents should indicate the name and address of the organization requesting them and should be addressed to: European Commission DG XIII/D-4 Batiment Jean Monnet (B4/105) Plateau du Kirchberg L-2920 Luxembourg Fax +352-430134544 Tenders should be submitted by post or delivery to: European Commission Mr. Guido Haesen DG XIII/D/4 Plateau du Kirchberg (B4/105) L-2920 Luxembourg
