Australia recognises European excellence
A total of 25 European university students and professionals have been selected to participate in the Australian Endeavour Programme. The €166 million initiative is an international scholarship programme run by the Australian Government. It offers high achieving students from Europe and elsewhere in the world the opportunity of studying in Australia in a broad range of disciplines. It also allows Australians to do the same abroad. Coming from Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and the UK, this year's European winners will each receive scholarship funds of €30,000 in order to further develop their knowledge and skills in their field of study. Winners may choose from a mix of postgraduate, undergraduate, vocational and technical education courses, as well as research and professional opportunities. 'The Endeavour Awards facilitate the sharing of knowledge, strengthen mutual understanding with the people of participating countries and build international linkages and networks,' said Julie Bishop, Australian Minister for Education, Science and Training. 'Scholars who participate in international education not only return home with improved academic qualifications, they also have a greater understanding of other cultures and societies,' said Ms Bishop. Over the next five years, the programme aims to provide more than 9,000 scholarships to international students and professionals.
