Provision of expertise for the development of an information system on tropical forests
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission has published a call for proposals for the development of an information system on tropical forests. TREES (Tropical Ecosystem Environment Observations by Satellites) is a Commission project, with the main objective of developing and implementing new techniques of utilization of remote sensing for the study of the global cover of tropical rain forests. Organizations or companies experienced in this field will propose the provision of four on-site experts in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing processing at the Ispra site for a two-year period. These experts will be under the supervision of a manager from the selected organization who will be based outside the Ispra site.
