Tender: use of renewable energy sources for aviation
The European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy and Transport has issued a call for tenders for a feasibility study on the use of renewable energy sources, particularly biofuels, for aviation. The purpose of this feasibility study is to investigate which and how renewable energy sources, in particular biofuels, with today's knowledge, can be introduced for use in the aviation sector. This should be done through a holistic study of the state-of-the-art of aircraft engines and energy performance, and potentially supported by an environmental impact analysis and a strategy for the way forward. Furthermore, the study should prepare the ground for building a demonstrator, or a pilot prototype, of an aircraft using a maximum of renewable energy sources; in particular biofuels, with a view to launching a preparatory action (demonstrator/pilot prototype). For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Energy and Transport Attn: Kyriakos Maniatis DM24-03/150 B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32 2 299 02 93 Fax: +32 2 296 6261 E-mail: Kyriakos.Maniatis@ec.europa.eu To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:145489-2007:TEXT:EN:HTML(opens in new window)
