Tender: requirements and options for actions in RFID in healthcare
The European Commission's Information Society and Media Directorate-General has published a call for tenders for a study on requirements and options for actions in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in healthcare. Patient safety and quality of care are important aspects of the eHealth Action Plan (COM (2004) 356 final) that deals with best practices and experiences from across the European Union. Part of a public consultation on RFID in 2006 (COM(2007) 96 final) concludes that, in hospitals and healthcare, the use of RFID technology to enhance patient safety should be explored. The main objective of this study is to provide the expert input necessary to assess prospective aspects of the applications of RFID in the healthcare market, focusing on visions and scenarios, and identifying associated obstacles and needs for specific policy actions or research activities. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Information Society and Media attn: Jaakko Aarnio BU 31 04/59 B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32 2 298 74 34 Fax: +32 2 296 01 81 E-mail: INFSO-H1@ec.europa.eu To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:163980-2007:TEXT:EN:HTML(opens in new window)
