Results of first call for Marie Curie Initial Training Networks
Some 905 proposals were submitted in response to the first Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITNs) call of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), which closed on 7 May. A total of 197 of these proposals will now go forward to the second stage of evaluation. With a total budget of €240 million, the call supports research training networks that seek to improve the career perspectives of early stage researchers in both the public and private sectors. The overall aim is to make research careers more attractive to young people. Having passed the first phase of evaluation, 197 project proposals will now be put forward for a second round of evaluation. Comprised of organisations from different countries, the networks most eligible for funding will be those that are built around joint research training programmes. Networks must also respond to well-identified training needs in defined scientific or technological areas, as well as interdisciplinary and newly emerging supra-disciplinary fields.
