The European Commission's Energy and Transport DG and the Swiss Federal Office of Transport have published a call for tenders for 'best research on traffic management systems for transalpine road freight transport'. The contract concerns the elaboration of a study on traffic management systems for transalpine road freight transport. The study will: - identify, in sensitive and other feasible areas, appropriate traffic management systems for allocating capacities; - describe the various concepts systematically by specific criteria; - estimate impacts of the suggested measures; - compare the concepts using a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis in order to arrive at a 'Best Research' result and a harmonisation of the analysed models at the same scientific level. 'Best research', in this context, refers to the process of searching, evaluating and assessing different concepts, and to describe the most suitable solutions for traffic management systems for transalpine road freight transport. This could also include a combination of the features of different systems to achieve an improved system. For further information, please contact: Günther Ettl European Commission Directorate-General Energy and Transport DM24 2/55 B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32-2 299 9378 Fax +32-2 295 2165 To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:196409-2007:TEXT:EN:HTML(opens in new window)
