Scientific and technical cooperation between the European Community and Australia
The European Union and Australia signed a scientific and technical Cooperation Agreement on 27 June 1994. The Agreement establishes a framework for collaboration in scientific and technical research which will extend and strengthen collaboration in areas of common interest and encourage the application of results. The Cooperation Agreement covers the following areas: - Biotechnology; - Medical and health research; - Marine science and technology; - Environment; - Information technologies; - Communication technologies. The cooperation activities covered by the Agreement will be overseen by a Joint Science and Technology Cooperation Committee.
