The European Commission's Directorate-General for Information Society and Media has issued a call for tenders for a study on optimising the use of the radio spectrum by the public sector in the European Union.

The overall objectives of the study are as follows:
- gather information and ideas on how the public sector in EU Member States could adopt a more long-term, pro-active approach to its use of spectrum;
- give advice on how to achieve an appropriate balance between spectrum allocated for public/commercial/private activities;
- provide advice on how public bodies in EU Member States could improve the public procurement of radio equipment and services;
- explore the possibility of new technological approaches being able to assist in using the spectrum efficiently in the case of public uses.For further information, please contact:
