The European Commission's Directorate-General for Information Society and Media has issued a call for tenders for a study on the development of the information society in EU rural development and regional policies. The contract will involve a comparative analysis of current strategies, implementation approaches, socio-economic impact and future approaches. The aim of the study is to assess past (2000-2006) and future (2007-2013) information and communication technologies (ICT) expenditure in structural and rural development policies as a basis for a comparative analysis of strategic approaches/plans covering planning, management, implementation and monitoring/benchmarking issues. The aims are: - to identify the most successful (high impact) strategies/projects and critical features of unsuccessful (low impact) approaches; - to report on successful projects/approaches that demonstrate significant socio-economic impacts on the area concerned; - to make recommendations for the reorientation of EU policy and actions in the context of the digital divide (within the i2010 framework) and for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of planning, management, implementation and monitoring of ICT measures supported with EU funds. For further information, please contact: European Commission Information Society and Media DG Directorate C - Lisbon Strategy and Policies for the Information Society Unit C1 - Lisbon Strategy and i2010 Attn: Guido Acchioni Office BU 25, 1/154 Rue du Bourget 1-3 B-1140 Brussels Tel. +32 2 295 47 41 Fax +32 2 296 17 80 E-mail: Guido.Acchioni@ec.europa.eu To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:245865-2007:TEXT:EN:HTML(opens in new window)
