Annual Report of the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies
The Institute for Prospective Technological Studies of the Commission's Joint Research Centre has published its annual report for 1993. The Institute's main tasks are: - Monitoring new developments in science and technology, which is undertaken by the Institute's European Science and Technology Observatory (ESTO); - Strategic analysis of new areas of science and technology which is achieved by completing prospective studies. In 1993 the activities concerning the ESTO concentrated on the identification and analysis of structures of information sources on R&D projects in the Member States. In addition, two activities in the field of the environment, originally initiated as studies, developed into longer-term projects. The two subjects concerned are: - Global change research and policy; - Development in most available technologies.
