CORDIS launches Regional Research and Innovation Service for Malopolska
As part of its Regional Gateway service, CORDIS, the Community research and Development Information Service, has launched a Regional Research and Innovation Service for the Polish region of Malopolska. The service highlights the research and development (R&D) sector and the infrastructural assets of this region in the south of Poland. An introduction gives the reader extensive information about the region's recent economic growth, particularly in the area of exports, R&D and foreign investment. A section is also dedicated to R&D, which highlights the wealth of higher education institutes, institutes of the Polish Academy of Science and business institutes located in the region. Krakow is the key academic centre in Malopolska and one of the scientific centres in Poland, second only to the country's capital, Warsaw More broadly, the service provides information on each stage in the life cycle of EU programmes and projects. Links give direct access to partners, projects and results databases. A map-based search interface offers geographically-tailored access to this information. Meanwhile, a 'What's New' page gives details of upcoming events that may be of interest to research actors in the Malopolska region. Finally, the service has links to all regional actors involved in R&D and economic development. These range from national and regional institutions to networks and services in the region, such as the Technology Transfer Center at the Krakow University of Technology and the Krakow Chamber of Commerce.
