PHARE information brochure published
The PHARE programme is the European Union's initiative to provide grant finance to support the process of economic transformation with Central and East European countries. PHARE provides know-how, including policy advice and training, from a wide range of non-commercial, public and private organizations to its partner countries. At the end of its first five years of operation in 1994, the European Union, through the PHARE programme, will have made available ECU 4,283 million to 11 partner countries. The PHARE programme is run by the European Commission's Directorate-General for External Economic Affairs. An information brochure has just been produced which presents a detailed account of PHARE activities, including aims, approach, priority sectors and programmes. Examples of projects within the different programmes are provided throughout.
