Tender: molecular typing in surveillance and control of MRSA
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has published a call for tenders for molecular typing in surveillance and control of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) in hospitals and the community. Successful tenderers should be able to: - collate available evidence of the current use of different molecular typing methods for MRSA in the context of disease surveillance in the EU, and to assess how this evidence could be used as part of a model for integration of molecular typing data with epidemiological and clinical data on MRSA obtained in the EU; - assess the capacity and training needs in the Member States with regard to molecular typing of MRSA; - assess and evaluate the usefulness of different molecular typing methods for hospital- and community-acquired MRSA strains for disease surveillance at the local/hospital, national and European levels; - assess how the integration of data from molecular typing of hospital- and community-acquired MRSA with epidemiological and clinical data obtained in the EU can be performed at the local level and European levels to enhance MRSA surveillance in the EU; - conduct a pilot study in a small number of Member States to demonstrate added value in relation to MRSA surveillance and control in the EU of integration of data from molecular typing of MRSA with epidemiological and clinical data.For further information, please contact: European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) attention: Procurement Tomtebodavägen 11a SE-171 83 Stockholm Tel. +46 858 60 1000 Fax: +46 858 60 1001 E-mail: procurement@ecdc.europa.eu To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:115984-2009:TEXT:EN:HTML(opens in new window)
