The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has issued a call for tenders for scoping research on the economic crisis and its impact on communicable diseases. The purpose of this contract is to deliver to ECDC a scoping assessment of the potential impacts of the current economic crisis on communicable disease spread and control in the European Union. The research conducted as part of this call for tenders will support subsequent ECDC activities related to social inequalities and communicable diseases. More specifically, the aims of this project are to: - conduct a preliminary assessment of whether the current financial crisis will impact communicable disease transmission within the EU and neighbouring countries; - if so, assess which impacts will be the greatest and where the greatest European vulnerabilities exist; - if so, suggest optimal strategies for addressing the issue. For further information, please contact: European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control attention: Procurement Tomtebodavägen 11a SE-171 83 Stockholm Tel. +46 858 601 000 Fax +46 858 601 001 E-mail: procurement@ecdc.europa.eu To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:115985-2009:TEXT:EN:HTML(opens in new window)
