The European Commission's Directorate-General for the Environment has published a call for tenders to study the environmental impacts of different crop rotations in the European Union. The purpose of this study is to provide as complete and accurate a picture as possible of crop rotation practices in the European Union and their environmental impacts, with a particular emphasis on impacts on soil, water, biodiversity, and climate change (adaptation, mitigation and carbon sequestration). The aim is to bring more precision to the debate on the environmental role of crop rotation, by providing a more consistent knowledge base which can be used to underpin future policy debate in this area. The study should also provide more information on which specific rotations are more favourable for the environment. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General for the Environment F.2 - Finance BU-5 00/122 B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32 229 600 08 Fax +32 229 944 49 E-mail: env-tenders@ec.europa.eu To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://ted.europa.eu/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:134159-2009:TEXT:EN:HTML(opens in new window)
