Call for expressions of interest from INSPIRE stakeholders
The European Commission is calling for expressions of interest from stakeholders in the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE) Directive. The call is addressed to the INSPIRE Spatial data interest communities (SDICs) and Legally mandated organisations (LMOs). The Commission is seeking voluntary contributions from the two groups, asking them to propose experts (domain experts, facilitators, editors) for the Thematic working groups (TWGs) and reference materials to be taken into consideration for the data specifications. The INSPIRE Directive establishing a spatial information infrastructure in the European Community entered into force on 15 May 2007. INSPIRE is based on the infrastructures for spatial information established and operated by the 27 Member States of the European Union. The Directive addresses 34 spatial data themes needed for environmental applications, with key components specified through technical implementation rules. The Member States of the European Union are in the process of adapting their national legislation to the INSPIRE Directive. For further information, please visit: http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/(opens in new window) To register as a stakeholder, please visit: http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/index.cfm/pageid/7/type/register(opens in new window)
