The European Virtual Institute of Malaria Research (EVIMALAR) network has issued a call for letters of interest from European and African scientific teams interested in conducting collaborative research with the EVIMALAR consortium as full members. The research interest of applicants should be centred on studies in the biology and pathology of the malaria parasite. For European applicants the call places particular emphasis on the following research area of immunobiology and pathophysiology. Applications from European-based scientists in other areas of the network's programme may also be considered but with a lower priority. For African applicants, research interests in all areas of network activity may be considered. The additional research areas of the network are: - parasite molecular and cell biology; - vector/parasite interactions; - modelling and systems biology. EVIMALAR is a joint research Network of Excellence funded by the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The project currently involves 42 partners from 33 institutes in Europe, Africa, India and Australia. It seeks to integrate malaria research that is directed towards a better understanding of the basic knowledge of the parasite, its vector and the biology of the interactions between the parasite and both its mammalian host and vectors. To see the full details of the call, please consult: http://www.evimalar.org(opens in new window)
