A call for proposals for the specific programme on R&D in the area of Advanced Communications Technologies and Services (ACTS) was made on 15 September 1994. This is the first of the new programmes to be launched under the Fourth Framework Programme. By 1 October 1994, the ACTS Central Office had received more than 3,500 expressions of interest from persons keen to receive the call documentation. These expressions of interest have been consolidated into a document for distribution at the ACTS National Hosts Conference and Proposers Day which will take place in Madrid on 19-20 October 1994. Electronic copies of the document are also available on the TWEuropa forum of Compuserve, and the RUS server of Internet (where copies of the call documentation are already available). CORDIS will shortly be including those interested in its Partners database, available on-line via ECHO, and CORDIS CD-Rom Edition I 1995. ECHO's World-Wide-Web server on Internet will also provide easy access to this data. The Partners database provides full contact coordinates for each person and organization (name, address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail, etc.) together with an indication of the priorities given by the organization to each area of RTD included in the programme. This information has been provided to support individual "Searches for partners" and the subsequent formation of consortia of proposers for ACTS. New expressions of interest are continually being received by DG XIII of the European Commission. These will lead to further updates to the Partners database in the months ahead. The closing date of the call for proposals for ACTS is 15 March 1995.
